CHURCH OF CHRIST
ROCK SOUND
OUR MISSION
To go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature,
teaching him to observe all things as we are commanded in the written word.
Specifically to teach people to...
Love God with all their HEART (Matthew 4:10)
Express in worshipping Him in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24)
Through MAGNIFYING and CELEBRATING HIS PRESENCE (Psalm 34:3)
OUR PASTOR
Lincoln Young lived in Nassau, New Providence, for the first 21 years of his life. He was converted on February 24, 1988, and moved to Eleuthera in October that same year.
Considering himself to be the "imperial optimist" Lincoln not only has a strong passion for youth, but also for seeing the happiness in others that can only be sustained with a relationship with Jesus. "I have the distinct privilege of watching people’s lives turn around for the better, watching them thrive in the newfound relationship, and the privilege of being able to preach funerals with hope for those who have gone home for THEIR reward."
Lincoln and Martha were married in November of 2014. Martha is originally from Guatemala but is now a US citizen. She has a background in social work, which makes her vital to the ministry at Rock Sound. However, a stroke and other health issues have limited her time here. Please join Lincoln and the Rock Sound congregation in praying for Martha's complete healing so she can again be more deeply involved in winning souls for Christ.

OUR CONGREGATION
The church’s primary mission is the Great Commission to “go into all the world and make disciples of all nations,” as Jesus tells us to do. We believe that affecting the world positively begins with our effect on our communities, and with this in mind, we seek to get off the seats and onto the streets for the cause of the Master.
We have a relatively small congregation; however, this is not symbolic of our impact. We are unique in that most of our work is among the young people and since we are considered a rural or country area many of our youngsters moved to the capital for furthering of education and job opportunities or sometimes even abroad. It is rare to have a congregation made up of a majority of young people, but that is what makes us unique.
OUR HISTORY
Rock Sound Township Christ of Christ was established in the late 1970s when flying preachers came down to evangelize the island. It began with a small group of Christians meeting in the house of one of the converted members. Initially, worship services were held whenever those preachers returned. Eventually, Richard and Beverly Parker, missionaries from California, moved to the island to continue the work.
David Caskey (also known as the flying preacher) was instrumental in providing supplies and teaching to those converted, along with local preachers from the other island congregations. Through the efforts of the Parkers and others, the church purchased an old theatre building that would later become our place of meeting, which purpose it still serves today.
After being converted in 1988, three new converts of the Highbury Park congregation in Nassau Bahamas–Brian Gibson, Lincoln Young, and Cordell Farrington–moved here to work with the church for a short time since the doors were closed whenever the missionaries had to return home. When Lincoln's initial co-laborers returned to Nassau, and eventually, the missionaries returned to the United States, it left a void here on the island.
Lincoln could not in good conscience leave the church unattended, so decided to train to become a pastor. He received most of his schooling by correspondence and going to Nassau to the Harding School of Biblical Studies (an arm of Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas) under the tutelage of the late David Caskey. Later, he became a full-time minister for the Rock Sound Church of Christ.
